Bryanna was born into a run-of-the-mill trade family, the youngest of four siblings. Their father was a talented blacksmith, and as she grew up, Reeve and Christian were already well on their way to learning the craft. Yet finances were always risky for the family, and they could never live in complete comfort.

Then Anna began with horseriding - as all things go, her sport didn't seem too impressive at first, but with time, she became better and better. She turned out to be perfectly suited for horseriding, and became an official sportswoman, with a dedicated group of supporters; for a while, the family knew wealth and luxuries. She died suddenly, however, the year Bry turned fifteen, drowning in the local river during a storm.

Bry, or "Briar" as she also likes to be called, had been hesitantly picking up some blacksmithing throughout her life, but she simply didn't have the male strength required to forge well. With only a rudimentary education, and what home skills she had picked up from her mother, her only route in life seemed to find a husband and get married. If they were lucky, perhaps she could draw the attentions of a sportsman, and the Camry's could enjoy the prestige they had once had.

Since Anna had been rarely home, Briar spent most of her childhood with her two brothers, doting attention on them and following them around. The three would often romp through town, ducking down alleys and climbing rooftops. Louise frowned upon this behaviour, but what else was there to do? Briar was always a tomboy in her free time, and the family struggled to keep her lady-like as she grew older. She needed to catch a husband, after all.

And then the testing came.

The only one of her family to have any sort of spark or potential for magic, Bryanna seized this opportunity with glee. She could go to Everthorne. She could gain the good breeding, etiquette, and poise that her family had failed to teach her. She could learn magic, become a mage, and finally crawl out from under her older sister's shadow.

Never call her "Anna". Bry shies away from the name, just like she shies away from the memory of what her sister was like, and the unvoiced expectations her family had for the second daughter to be like the first. She likes the name "Briar" - thorny as a rose, prickly and dangerous.

Her temper matches this nickname, easily flared up. She has taught herself to argue, to maintain her pride against playful brothers and boys in the marketplace. With a lifted chin and a clenched jaw, Bry certainly possesses an attitude to match those of well-bred nobles. Her biggest problem is her ability to simply talk too much - she speaks before she thinks, and says more than she should, occasionally insulting by accident when she simply meant no offense.

Despite this temper, however, Bry is surprisingly easy to placate once she has started arguing. An apology, or any sort of sign of remorse or backing down, is enough to quench her anger. She's a creature of show and flair, trying to depict herself as greater than she is.

In truth, she's actually rather down-to-earth. She befriends easily, as long as she feels she isn't threatened. Bry is friendly and playful, an eternal tomboy - which might work against her in Everthorne - and desperate to prove her worth, but also desperate to protect those she likes against harm.

She absent-mindedly chews on her pens and quills, and she is slightly twitchy around sportsmen.

Bryanna has a tall and scrawny figure, enough so that she can look most of her male contemporaries in the eye. With a round and pleasant face, her most prominent feature is her red hair - usually kept in braids, pigtails, tied up with ribbons, or a ponytail. Her green eyes are large and expressive. Since entering Everthorne, she has started wearing formal dresses and skirts instead of the rough clothing of a tradesman's family, but she seems awkward in the clothes, more adjusted to being a stringy and active tomboy.
